Great things do come in small packages.\u003cbr\u003e\r\n\u003cbr\u003e\r\nWHAT'S NEW WITH THE PREON P1 MKIII \u003cbr\u003e\r\nUser interface: a similar to the previous UI but revamped for better usability and wider appeal to different owners. Details below. \u003cbr\u003e\r\n\u003cbr\u003e\r\nPocket clip: The previous Preon clip was actually patterned after my legendary Prometheus clips. We took that a step further and made it an exact copy out of stainless steel. This clip is substantially thicker than previous Preon clips and has better ergonomics. \u003cbr\u003e\r\n\u003cbr\u003e\r\nBody Machining: I opted to remove the grooving from the area underneath the clip to prevent the light from tearing up your pockets. \u003cbr\u003e\r\n\u003cbr\u003e\r\nTail Cap: Accidental activation plagued both previous generations of Preons. The new rubber button solves this issue while remaining functional and feeling solid. \u003cbr\u003e\r\n\u003cbr\u003e\r\nNichia LED: You already know that I'm focused on usable light over maximum lumens. From now on, all Preons feature the lauded Nichia 219C in order to deliver solid output ad 92+ CRI (Color Rendering Index). Other features include the following:  \u003cbr\u003e\r\n\u003cbr\u003e\r\nOutput in programming mode = 15% (medium)\u003cbr\u003e\r\nBump Protection = \u0026lt;60ms off time = no mode change\u003cbr\u003e\r\nEnter configuration menu = 10 cycles within 3 seconds.  \u003cbr\u003e\r\nMode change interval = .5 seconds\u003cbr\u003e\r\nMemory set (off) time = .5 seconds  \u003cbr\u003e\r\nMemory function = revert to mode 1 \u003cbr\u003e\r\nBurst Mode Memory = no memory\u003cbr\u003e\r\nBurst mode behavior = 30 seconds burst (100% output), ramp to high mode (60%) over next 30 seconds.\u003cbr\u003e\r\n\u003cbr\u003e\r\nWhat's up with burst mode? : This feature is ported over from the flagship Prometheus Alpha Flashlights. It allows you to access maximum output at any time without scrolling through other modes. This also allows you to have maximum output when you need it, but conserve battery by using the standard high mode (60% output) for normal use.\u003cbr\u003e\r\n\u003cbr\u003e\r\nBurst mode is activated with two very fast off\/on cycles (.2 second spacing) and does not have mode memory. Burst is active for 30 seconds and then ramps down to high mode over the following 30 seconds. This is to prevent the light from overheating and damaging the LED, electronics, or battery wrapper.  \u003cbr\u003e\r\n\u003cbr\u003e\r\nUI CONFIGURATIONS\u003cbr\u003e\r\nAll Minis are initially set to Configuration 3 with Medium\/High\/Burst. They can be reconfigured as often as you'd like.\u003cbr\u003e\r\n\u003cbr\u003e\r\nEntering Configuration Mode:\u003cbr\u003e\r\n\u003cbr\u003e\r\nJust power cycle (on\/off) the light 10 times in \u0026lt;3 seconds to enter configuration mode. The light will blink a number of times corresponding to the current configuration. One power cycle will change to the next configuration. Leave the light off for 5 seconds to save the current configuration to memory. \u003cbr\u003e\r\n\u003cbr\u003e\r\nWhen entering configuration mode you should use a \"press\" and not a \"click.\"\u003cbr\u003e\r\n\u003cbr\u003e\r\nA button press will activate the light in momentary mode. A click is audible and latches the light in the \"on\" state. Basically clicking is too slow and pressing allows faster on\/off cycling :)\u003cbr\u003e\r\n\u003cbr\u003e\r\nHere are the possible configurations:\u003cbr\u003e\r\n\u003cbr\u003e\r\nConfig. 1: High - (Burst 100%)\u003cbr\u003e\r\nConfig. 2: Max (100%) - Strobe\u003cbr\u003e\r\nConfig. 3: Medium - High - (Burst)\u003cbr\u003e\r\nConfig. 4: Low - Medium - High - (Burst)\u003cbr\u003e\r\nConfig. 5: High - Medium - Low - (Burst)\u003cbr\u003e\r\nConfig. 6: Low - Med - High - Strobe - SOS - Beacon - (Burst) \u003cbr\u003e\r\nALKALINE BATTERY WARNING\u003cbr\u003e\r\nAlkaline battery damage is the #1 cause of failed lights. Alkaline battery damage IS NOT covered under warranty. \u003cbr\u003e\r\n\u003cbr\u003e\r\nAlkaline batteries will power the Preon, but we strongly discourage their use.
