Benchmade 427 Mini Vallation – CPM-S30V AXIS-Assist Folding Knife

The Benchmade 427 Mini Vallation is an assisted opening knife built on the AXIS lock, with a spring that takes over once you push the 3.20" CPM-S30V drop point out of the handle. A top-mounted sliding safety locks the blade shut for carry, and a carbide-tipped glass breaker sits in the steel backspacer at the butt.

Milled 6061-T6 billet aluminum scales over steel liners give the Mini Vallation a substantial 4.58 oz feel with a palm swell and cut grooves that fill the hand. The mohawk swedge along the spine lightens the tip without giving up much strength behind it.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an assisted opening knife?

An assisted opening knife needs you to start the blade moving before an internal spring completes the motion. On the Benchmade 427 Mini Vallation you push the thumb stud past a short initial travel, and the AXIS-Assist spring swings the blade the rest of the way open and into the lock.

Is the Benchmade 427 Mini Vallation an automatic knife?

No. Despite the speed, the Benchmade 427 Mini Vallation is an assisted opener, not an automatic. An automatic fires from a button with the blade fully closed, whereas this knife only springs open after you have manually started the blade out of the handle. That distinction matters under many knife laws, so check the rules where you live and travel.

How does the glass breaker work?

The Benchmade 427 Mini Vallation has a carbide tip set into the steel backspacer at the butt of the handle. Carbide is harder than tempered glass, so a sharp strike into a corner of a side or rear vehicle window concentrates force into a tiny point and shatters the pane. Windshields are laminated and will not break this way.

What is LifeSharp?
