Benchmade 665SBK APB Assist – Black Combo Edge Ambidextrous Assisted Opener

The Benchmade 665SBK APB Assist is the black-blade, partially serrated version of Benchmade's truly ambidextrous assisted opener. APB stands for Ambidextrous Push-Button, an evolution of the AXIS lock introduced around 2015 that hides the lock bar inside the handle and releases it from a button on either side. In the model number, S means the partially serrated combo edge and BK the black blade coating. The spring assist snaps the 3.60" black 154CM drop point open from either the buttons or the dual thumb studs, and the serrated section powers through rope and webbing. Contoured blue and black layered G10 scales sit over stainless liners. This model is discontinued.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Benchmade APB Assist mechanism?

APB stands for Ambidextrous Push-Button. On the Benchmade 665SBK APB Assist, a concealed AXIS-style lock bar is moved by push buttons on both sides of the handle, so locking, unlocking, and assisted deployment work identically for left and right handed users.

Is the Benchmade 665SBK APB Assist an automatic knife?

No. The Benchmade 665SBK APB Assist is an assisted-opening knife: the blade must be started manually with the thumb studs before the spring takes over, which keeps it in a different legal category than automatics in many places. Always check your local laws.

Does Benchmade sharpen the 665SBK APB Assist for free?

Yes. Benchmade's LifeSharp service covers the Benchmade 665SBK APB Assist for the life of the knife, and Benchmade can re-sharpen its serrated combo edge as well as the plain section.

Where is the Benchmade 665SBK APB Assist made?

The Benchmade 665SBK APB Assist is made in the USA at Benchmade's Oregon City, Oregon facility.

Where can I buy the Benchmade 665SBK APB Assist?

Going Gear is an authorized Benchmade dealer. Because the Benchmade 665SBK APB Assist is discontinued, availability is limited to remaining dealer stock.
