Benchmade H&K 14412 Mini Pika Folding Knife

The Benchmade H&K 14412 Mini Pika is the compact member of the Heckler & Koch Pika family, a no-nonsense tactical folding knife built around a 2.90 inch 9Cr13CoMoV stainless clip point and a large ambidextrous thumb hole. Glass filled nylon scales over dual stainless steel liners keep the weight at 2.75 oz, and a lockback mechanism holds the blade open with a positive, time proven click. Four pocket clip positions let you set it up tip up or tip down, left or right. This model has been discontinued and is no longer in production.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Benchmade H&K 14412 Mini Pika still being made?

No. The Benchmade H&K 14412 Mini Pika (SKU BCM14412MINIPIKAFOLD) is discontinued, along with the rest of the Benchmade Heckler & Koch licensed program. Any 14412 you find today is old stock or secondary market.

How does the thumb hole opener on the 14412 Mini Pika work?

The Benchmade H&K 14412 Mini Pika (SKU BCM14412MINIPIKAFOLD) uses a round opening cut through the blade instead of thumb studs. You place your thumb in the hole and roll the blade open. Because the hole passes all the way through, it works identically in either hand, which is why the knife draws frequent comparisons to other round-hole folders.

Is 9Cr13CoMoV a good blade steel?

9Cr13CoMoV is a value-tier Chinese stainless roughly comparable to 440A or AUS-8. On the Benchmade H&K 14412 Mini Pika (SKU BCM14412MINIPIKAFOLD) it is run at 57-58 HRC, which trades some edge retention for easy resharpening and good corrosion resistance. It is a stainless steel, so no special oiling routine is needed.

What is a lockback and how do I close the knife?

A lockback uses a rocker bar in the spine that drops into a notch on the blade tang. To close the Benchmade H&K 14412 Mini Pika (SKU BCM14412MINIPIKAFOLD), press down on the exposed section of the rocker bar in the middle of the handle spine and fold the blade shut, keeping your fingers clear of the edge path.

Where was the Benchmade H&K 14412 Mini Pika made?

Benchmade builds its own knives in Oregon City, Oregon, but the Heckler & Koch line was a separate licensed program produced to a lower price point. Going Gear's published spec sheet for the Benchmade H&K 14412 Mini Pika (SKU BCM14412MINIPIKAFOLD) lists its country of origin as Import.

Is Going Gear an authorized Benchmade dealer?

Yes. Going Gear is an authorized Benchmade dealer, so anything we list, including discontinued pieces like the Benchmade H&K 14412 Mini Pika (SKU BCM14412MINIPIKAFOLD), is genuine factory product rather than a counterfeit or grey-market import.
