Benchmade Mini Griptilian 557 – Compact 154CM Tanto AXIS Folder
The Benchmade Mini Griptilian 557 is the tanto blade version of Benchmade's most popular compact EDC folder. The satin 154CM stainless tanto opens with ambidextrous thumb studs and locks up on the ambidextrous AXIS mechanism, with black Valox scales over 420J stainless liners keeping it at 2.56 oz. This 154CM Valox generation is discontinued, and the mini Griptilian tanto remains one of the most searched for versions of the platform.

What is a tanto blade good for?
The angular tanto point on the Benchmade Mini Griptilian 557 puts extra steel directly behind the tip, which makes it strong for piercing, scraping, and utility work that would stress a finer point. The flat main edge is also simple to sharpen evenly on a bench stone.
Why is the Benchmade Mini Griptilian so popular?
The Griptilian family has been a Benchmade best seller for more than two decades. The Benchmade Mini Griptilian 557 pairs the grippy, lightweight handle and fully ambidextrous AXIS lock with a tanto profile that many EDC users prefer for hard use tasks.
Is Benchmade discontinuing the Griptilian?
Benchmade still makes the Griptilian family, but the 154CM Valox generation of the Benchmade Mini Griptilian 557 is discontinued. Current Mini Griptilian production focuses on CPM-S30V drop point and sheepsfoot blades with black Grivory handles, so this tanto version is only available as remaining stock.
