The Ember Underquilt insulates beneath you and your sides where a sleeping bag is ineffective. Sleeping bags only work when uncompressed, so your entire underside is uninsulated in a hammock. The Ember solves this problem by attaching to the underside of the hammock, extending the seasons of hammock camping.
