Frequently Asked Questions
What is the blade length of the HX Outdoors Rock Apex Mini TD-26B?
The HX Outdoors Rock Apex Mini TD-26B has a 2.28" (58 mm) drop point blade. The whole knife is 5.63" long, which makes the HX Outdoors Rock Apex Mini TD-26B a true small fixed blade knife that carries as easily as a pocket knife while giving you the strength of a full-tang fixed blade.
What steel is used in the HX Outdoors Rock Apex Mini TD-26B?
The HX Outdoors Rock Apex Mini TD-26B uses DC53 tool steel with a black titanium coating. DC53 is a Japanese cold-work tool steel designed as a tougher alternative to D2, so the HX Outdoors Rock Apex Mini TD-26B holds a keen edge and shrugs off hard use despite its small size. The titanium coating protects the non-stainless steel from corrosion; keep the edge lightly oiled.
Is DC53 a good knife steel?
Yes — DC53 is a good knife steel for a small hard-use blade like the HX Outdoors Rock Apex Mini TD-26B. Compared with D2 it offers better toughness and easier sharpening at a similar hardness, which is why HX Outdoors uses it across the Rock Apex line, including the HX Outdoors Rock Apex Mini TD-26B.
What handle material does the HX Outdoors Rock Apex Mini TD-26B have?
The HX Outdoors Rock Apex Mini TD-26B features a black G10 handle, 3.43" long, machined with a fine non-slip texture over a one-piece full tang. G10 is a fiberglass laminate that is lightweight, strong, and grippy when wet, and the stainless steel pommel on the HX Outdoors Rock Apex Mini TD-26B adds balance and serves as an impact tool.
Does the HX Outdoors Rock Apex Mini TD-26B come with a sheath?
Yes — the HX Outdoors Rock Apex Mini TD-26B comes with a Kydex sheath finished in a carbon fiber pattern with a belt clip, allowing secure, low-profile carry. The sheath keeps the HX Outdoors Rock Apex Mini TD-26B ready for quick access on a belt, in a pack, or in a pocket.
Can the HX Outdoors Rock Apex Mini TD-26B be carried as a neck knife?
Yes — HX Outdoors designed the HX Outdoors Rock Apex Mini TD-26B to be carried in a pocket, in a backpack, or worn as a neck knife. At 5.63" overall and 6.95 oz with its Kydex sheath, the HX Outdoors Rock Apex Mini TD-26B is small and light enough for neck carry when paired with a cord or chain.
Where can I buy the HX Outdoors Rock Apex Mini TD-26B?
The HX Outdoors Rock Apex Mini TD-26B is available at Going Gear, an authorized HX Outdoors dealer. Going Gear carries the HX Outdoors fixed blade lineup with fast shipping and expert customer support.
Is the HX Outdoors Rock Apex Mini TD-26B a good EDC fixed blade?
Yes — the HX Outdoors Rock Apex Mini TD-26B gives you DC53 tool steel, full-tang strength, a textured G10 handle, and a clip-equipped Kydex sheath in a knife that weighs about five ounces. For everyday carry, kitchen prep at camp, or a backup blade, the HX Outdoors Rock Apex Mini TD-26B is one of the most capable small fixed blade knives at its price.
