ProTech Rockeye LG301-Blue – 3.38" Stonewashed CPM-S35VN Automatic Knife

The ProTech Rockeye LG301-Blue is the blue-handled build of Les George's Rockeye automatic folder, made in the USA by Pro-Tech Knives. A 3.38" stonewashed CPM-S35VN drop point blade rides in a solid, smooth-finished blue 6061 aluminum handle with blasted hardware and a matching blasted pocket clip. Pro-Tech's coil-spring action fires the blade open at the press of the push button and locks it dead solid. Going Gear is an authorized ProTech dealer.

Les George spent ten years in the United States Marine Corps before he began making knives, and the Rockeye shows it — a full-size tactical EDC automatic knife with a broad, useful drop point and nothing on it for show.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the blade length of the ProTech Rockeye LG301-Blue?

The ProTech Rockeye LG301-Blue has a 3.38" blade on a 5.00" handle and measures 8.38" overall when open. That puts the ProTech Rockeye LG301-Blue in the full-size class — enough blade for real work, still slim enough for daily pocket carry on its blasted 3-hole clip.

What steel is used in the ProTech Rockeye LG301-Blue?

The ProTech Rockeye LG301-Blue uses CPM-S35VN, a powder-metallurgy stainless steel developed by Crucible with niobium added to S30V's recipe. The niobium carbides make it tougher and noticeably easier to sharpen than S30V while keeping excellent edge retention and stainless corrosion resistance, which is why CPM-S35VN remains a benchmark EDC steel. The stonewashed finish on the ProTech Rockeye LG301-Blue also hides scratches and everyday wear.

What handle material does the ProTech Rockeye LG301-Blue have?

The ProTech Rockeye LG301-Blue has a solid 6061 aluminum handle anodized in blue with a smooth, untextured finish. Machined aluminum makes the ProTech Rockeye LG301-Blue rigid and warm-to-the-hand rather than flexy, the anodizing resists corrosion and abrasion, and the smooth surface will not chew up pocket linings.

How does the automatic button lock on the ProTech Rockeye LG301-Blue work?

The ProTech Rockeye LG301-Blue uses Pro-Tech's Button Auto mechanism. A coil spring under tension drives the blade, and one press of the push button releases it to snap open and lock. Pressing the same button withdraws the lock so the blade can be folded back by hand. The action on the ProTech Rockeye LG301-Blue is the coil-spring design Pro-Tech built its reputation on — fast, repeatable, and with no blade play when locked.

Is the ProTech Rockeye LG301-Blue legal to carry?

The ProTech Rockeye LG301-Blue is an automatic (switchblade) knife, and automatic knife laws differ by state, county, and city. Many US states now allow automatic knife ownership and carry outright, while others cap blade length or restrict how the knife may be carried. Check the current law where you live before carrying the ProTech Rockeye LG301-Blue — Going Gear cannot provide legal advice.

Where can I buy the ProTech Rockeye LG301-Blue?

The ProTech Rockeye LG301-Blue is available at Going Gear, an authorized ProTech dealer. Going Gear carries the Pro-Tech Knives lineup, including Les George collaborations like the Rockeye, with fast shipping and expert customer support.

Is the ProTech Rockeye LG301-Blue a good EDC knife?

Yes — where automatics are legal, the ProTech Rockeye LG301-Blue is about as much knife as a pocket can reasonably hold: USA-made coil-spring action, a rigid one-piece aluminum handle, and a stonewashed CPM-S35VN drop point that stays stainless and keeps an edge through weeks of cutting. The blue anodizing also makes the ProTech Rockeye LG301-Blue easy to tell apart from a blacked-out working knife in a drawer full of them.
