ProTech Rockeye Operator LG307-D2 – 3.38" DLC Black CPM-D2 Automatic Knife
The ProTech Rockeye Operator LG307-D2 is the blacked-out Operator build of Les George's Rockeye automatic folder, made in the USA by Pro-Tech Knives. It pairs a 3.38" DLC-coated CPM-D2 drop point blade with a textured black 6061 aluminum handle, black hardware, a black pocket clip, and a tritium-inlaid push button that glows in the dark with no charging from a light source. Pro-Tech's coil-spring automatic action fires the blade open with a firm press and locks it solid. Going Gear is an authorized ProTech dealer.
Les George served ten years in the United States Marine Corps before turning to knifemaking, and the Rockeye reflects it — a purpose-built, full-size tactical EDC automatic knife with no wasted material.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the blade length of the ProTech Rockeye Operator LG307-D2?
The ProTech Rockeye Operator LG307-D2 has a 3.38" blade on a 5.00" handle, opening to 8.38" overall. That makes the ProTech Rockeye Operator LG307-D2 a full-size automatic knife — substantial enough for hard use while still riding comfortably in a front pocket on its black 3-hole clip.
What steel is used in the ProTech Rockeye Operator LG307-D2?
The ProTech Rockeye Operator LG307-D2 uses CPM-D2, a powder-metallurgy version of the classic D2 tool steel. CPM processing gives it a finer, more uniform carbide structure than conventional D2, so it takes a keener edge and resists chipping while keeping D2's high wear resistance. The DLC coating on the ProTech Rockeye Operator LG307-D2 adds a hard, low-friction black surface that helps offset D2's semi-stainless nature.
What handle material does the ProTech Rockeye Operator LG307-D2 have?
The ProTech Rockeye Operator LG307-D2 has a solid 6061 aluminum handle with a machined surface texture, finished in black with matching black hardware. Machined aluminum gives the ProTech Rockeye Operator LG307-D2 a rigid, one-piece feel that a lined folder cannot match, and the texture keeps the grip planted in wet or gloved hands.
How does the automatic button lock on the ProTech Rockeye Operator LG307-D2 work?
The ProTech Rockeye Operator LG307-D2 uses Pro-Tech's Button Auto mechanism. A coil spring drives the blade, and a single press of the push button releases it to fire open and lock in place. Pressing the same button retracts the lock so the blade can be folded closed by hand. The button on the ProTech Rockeye Operator LG307-D2 sits flush enough to resist accidental activation in the pocket.
What is the tritium button on the ProTech Rockeye Operator LG307-D2?
The Operator build of the ProTech Rockeye Operator LG307-D2 replaces the standard button insert with a sealed tritium vial. Tritium glows continuously through radioluminescence — no charging from a light source required — so the button on the ProTech Rockeye Operator LG307-D2 stays visible in complete darkness for years.
Is the ProTech Rockeye Operator LG307-D2 legal to carry?
The ProTech Rockeye Operator LG307-D2 is an automatic (switchblade) knife, and automatic knife laws vary widely by state, county, and city. Many US states now permit automatic knife ownership and carry outright, while others restrict blade length or carry method. Before carrying the ProTech Rockeye Operator LG307-D2, check the current statutes for your own jurisdiction — Going Gear cannot provide legal advice.
Where can I buy the ProTech Rockeye Operator LG307-D2?
The ProTech Rockeye Operator LG307-D2 is available at Going Gear, an authorized ProTech dealer. Going Gear carries the Pro-Tech Knives lineup, including Les George collaborations like the Rockeye, with fast shipping and expert customer support.
Is the ProTech Rockeye Operator LG307-D2 a good EDC knife?
Yes — if automatics are legal where you carry, the ProTech Rockeye Operator LG307-D2 is one of the strongest full-size EDC autos available: a USA-made coil-spring action, a rigid one-piece aluminum handle, a hard-wearing DLC CPM-D2 drop point that handles everything from boxes to cordage, and a tritium button you can find by feel in the dark. The blacked-out finish on the ProTech Rockeye Operator LG307-D2 also keeps it discreet for duty or low-profile carry.
