Sea to Summit Compression Sack L (stscompsackl)

The Sea to Summit Compression Sack L (stscompsackl) is the heavy-duty member of the compression family. Where the Ultra-Sil version chases minimum weight, this one is cut from 210D PU-coated nylon and built to take abuse in a duffel, a truck bed or a canoe. Four evenly spaced straps pull a 20 liter load down to roughly 6.5 liters without letting the sack bulge, and the "Flip-Top-Lid" design keeps the straps from tangling every time you open it.

Features

  • "Flip-Top-Lid" design prevents strap tangling
  • Made of heavy-duty 210D PU-coated nylon
  • Four straps for even compression; eliminates bulging
  • Extra-long straps so the sack is easy to fill to maximum capacity
  • Nylon webbing pull handle on the bottom
  • Black body with end panels in blue, red, yellow, black or green

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does the Sea to Summit Compression Sack L compress?

The Sea to Summit Compression Sack L (stscompsackl) takes a 20 liter load down to roughly 6.5 liters once all four straps are cinched — about a two-thirds reduction. It measures 9" x 20" uncompressed.

Will a sleeping bag fit in the Sea to Summit Compression Sack L?

Yes. At 20 liters the Sea to Summit Compression Sack L (stscompsackl) is the size most people reach for with a three-season sleeping bag, a down jacket plus midlayers, or a full change of camp clothing. The extra-long straps mean you can genuinely fill it to capacity before compressing.

What is the Sea to Summit Compression Sack L made of?

The Sea to Summit Compression Sack L (stscompsackl) uses heavy-duty 210D PU-coated nylon, a noticeably tougher and thicker fabric than the 30D siliconized Cordura® on the Ultra-Sil version. The trade-off is weight: you gain abrasion resistance and give up a couple of ounces.

Is the Sea to Summit Compression Sack L waterproof?

No. The Sea to Summit Compression Sack L (stscompsackl) is a compression sack, not a dry sack. The PU coating sheds light moisture, but the seams are not taped and the closure is not a watertight roll top. For waterproof storage look at the Sea to Summit eVent or Ultra-Sil Dry Sack range.

Should I choose the Sea to Summit Compression Sack L or the Ultra-Sil version?

Pick the Sea to Summit Compression Sack L (stscompsackl) when the sack will live in a duffel, a canoe or a truck and take real abrasion. Pick the Ultra-Sil Compression Sack L when every ounce counts on a long backpacking trip. Both compress 20 liters down to about 6.5 liters using the same four-strap flip-top-lid system.

Where can I buy the Sea to Summit Compression Sack L?

You can buy the Sea to Summit Compression Sack L (stscompsackl) at Going Gear, an authorized Sea to Summit dealer. Every sack ships new in original packaging with the full manufacturer warranty.
