Spyderco Bodacious C263GPBK — All-Black DLC EDC Pocket Knife

Designed by Spyderco co-founder and Blade Magazine Hall of Fame member Sal Glesser, the Spyderco Bodacious C263GPBK is named after the American bucking bull once billed as the world's most dangerous bull. It is a deliberately overbuilt folder built for unfailing reliability, and this is the blacked-out configuration: the broad, leaf-shaped CPM S30V blade wears a Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coating, and the liners, pocket clip and hardware are black-coated to match.

Under the smooth black G-10 scales sit skeletonized stainless steel liners, reinforced by a minimalist stainless steel backspacer. Those liners form the foundation of the Compression Lock mechanism and provide the mounting platform for a broad-based pocket clip that reverses for left or right-side tip-up carry, straddling a generously sized lanyard hole. The full-flat ground blade opens one-handed with either hand via the fully accessible Trademark Round Hole. At 4.4 ounces with a 3.63" blade, the Spyderco Bodacious C263GPBK is a stout, low-profile EDC pocket knife made in the United States.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a DLC coating and how durable is it?
Diamond-Like Carbon is a hard, low-friction amorphous carbon coating applied in a vacuum process. On the Spyderco Bodacious C263GPBK it darkens the blade to a deep matte black, adds surface hardness and reduces reflectivity. Normal cutting will eventually show wear at the edge bevel of the Spyderco Bodacious C263GPBK, which is expected on any coated blade.

How does the Compression Lock on the Spyderco Bodacious C263GPBK work?
The Compression Lock in the Spyderco Bodacious C263GPBK uses a leaf-shaped spring on the back of the handle that wedges between the blade tang and a stop pin. It is very strong under load, and it lets you unlock the Spyderco Bodacious C263GPBK from the spine side so your fingers never cross the closing blade path.

What is a leaf-shaped blade?
A leaf-shaped blade, like the one on the Spyderco Bodacious C263GPBK, widens through the middle and tapers to a fine point. It is a Spyderco signature profile balancing slicing belly, piercing ability and edge strength, which is what makes the Spyderco Bodacious C263GPBK such a versatile everyday cutter.

What kind of steel is CPM S30V?
CPM S30V is a powder-metallurgy stainless steel whose vanadium carbides give strong wear resistance and good corrosion resistance. On the Spyderco Bodacious C263GPBK it is full-flat ground beneath the DLC coating, so the Spyderco Bodacious C263GPBK holds a working edge well while remaining practical to maintain at home.

How do I sharpen the Spyderco Bodacious C263GPBK without ruining the coating?
Sharpen only the edge bevel of the Spyderco Bodacious C263GPBK and stay off the flats. Match the existing angle on ceramic rods, diamond plates or a guided system. The DLC on the flats of the Spyderco Bodacious C263GPBK is untouched by normal sharpening; a thin bright line at the very edge is normal.

Is the Spyderco Bodacious C263GPBK legal to carry?
The Spyderco Bodacious C263GPBK is a manually opened folding knife with a 3.63" blade, not an automatic. Blade length limits and folding knife rules vary by state, county and city, so check your local ordinances before carrying the Spyderco Bodacious C263GPBK.

How is the C263GPBK different from the C263GP?
Mechanically they are the same knife. The Spyderco Bodacious C263GPBK is the all-black version, with a DLC-coated blade plus black-coated liners, clip and hardware, while the C263GP has a satin blade and brightly finished hardware. Choose the Spyderco Bodacious C263GPBK if you want the low-reflectivity blacked-out build.

Where can I buy the Spyderco Bodacious C263GPBK?
You can buy the Spyderco Bodacious C263GPBK at Going Gear, an authorized Spyderco dealer. Every Spyderco Bodacious C263GPBK we ship is genuine, factory-fresh and backed by the full manufacturer warranty.
